Compton is a Los Angeles neighbourhood infamous for gang violence and poverty. Jong Seok Kim, a local Korean American, started making street food in Compton to support the community demoralized by the constant chaos. The hearty meal served by Kim became wildly popular, leading to him opening his own restaurant that grew into a franchise. The mix of gritty street culture, hip-hop, and Asia-themed prints reflects the soul of the Korean BBQ franchise in its annual report.
